This position prepares and posts journal entries, prepares monthly financial schedules, performs general ledger analysis, and performs account reconciliations. Employees in this position are responsible for adhering to established District and regulatory policies and procedures concerning public/governmental accounting practices. This position performs essential functions, as outlined herein, according to area of assignment.
Reviews expenses and prepares monthly expense accruals.
Prepares, inputs, and posts journal entries into the general ledger system.
Reviews expenses and drafts accounts payable/expense accrual and accounts receivable entries.
Assists with and completes special projects as assigned.
Assists with annual audit (e.g., taking inventory, preparing statement notes, preparing work papers).
Prepares balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepares bank reconciliations.
Analyzes budget to actual variances.
Assists with the preparation of regulatory reports.
Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Equivalent combination of experience, along with high school diploma or GED, may substitute for minimum education requirements.
At least two (2) years previous experience involving accounting and financial functions using generally accepted accounting principles required. Government or health care experience preferred.
