    General Statement of Job

    This position provides and documents direct services to residents for social, craft, recreational, and cultural activities. Employees in this position are capable of working effectively with persons from a wide range of cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

    Responsibilities

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

     

    Essential Functions:

    Plans, organizes, instructs, and supervises residents in crafts, games, sports, and recreational and cultural activities.

    Creates calendars, fliers, posters, newsletters, or other materials for the purpose of announcing upcoming programs.

    Documents resident activity and personal work activity through notes, care plans, or other written documentation.

    Schedule and implement room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.

    Transports residents to and from activities and accompanies residents on outings.

    Assists with the care of animals.

    Supervises the work and activities of volunteer persons as delegated by supervisor.

    Assists supervisor in MDS, care plan and interdisciplinary team conferences as assigned.

    Maintains an activity attendance record for each resident.

    Prepares and cleans supplies and program areas.

    Arranges and serves appropriate refreshments for activities according to resident diet order.

    Monitors materials and supplies; orders supplies as needed; and stocks supplies upon receipt.

    Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

    Qualifications

    Position Qualifications

    Education:

    High school diploma or GED required.

    Experience:

    One (1) year of work or volunteer experience that demonstrates ability to perform essential functions required.

    Certification:

    Activity Certification preferred.

    Licensure:

    Certified Nursing Assistant license preferred. Preference is given to a candidate with or willing to obtain a CDL Class ‘B’ Drivers license with a passenger endorsement.
