    General Statement of Job

    This position operates radiology equipment and performs radiology procedures to assist doctors in the diagnoses of patients’ health problems or injuries. The employee provides direct and indirect patient care to ensure successful completion of their imaging procedures.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    Performs a variety of radiology procedures including, inpatient, emergency and outpatient radiographic studies. Adjusts techniques for optimum radiograph and the lowest dose achievable according to established protocols.

    Ensures radiation safety techniques are followed at all times and conform to ALARA.

    Prepares the X-ray room for radiologic exams.

    Maintains inventory of supplies. Informs supervisor of needed supplies as necessary in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures. Demonstrates cost awareness in ordering decisions, as well as ensuring the careful, efficient and non-wasteful use of Radiology supplies.

    Identifies each patient with two identifiers and reviews each patient’s physicians order. Ensures that all documentation is accurate prior to the start of a procedure.

    Sets up and maintains sterile fields while performing radiology biopsy procedures.

    Performs start-up and shut-down procedures as required.

    Follows contrast protocols.

    Provides operating room (c-arm) fluoroscopy services and produces radiographs as needed.

    Follows and adheres to all aspects of the hospital’s Code of Conduct.

    Maneuvers patients into required positions for radiographic procedures. Utilizes and adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to ensure patient safety, proper positioning and to minimize patient discomfort.

    Performs various clerical duties within the Radiology Department.

    Prints films and burns CD’s as needed.

    Transports patients to and from their units as needed to the X-ray rooms.

    Uses equipment safely and as directed by policies and instruction. Maintains equipment through proper care and maintenance. Reports any identified equipment breakdown or malfunction to the Manager of Radiology.

    Ensures all patient data and required technical data is entered correctly into the computer system.

    Inputs patient charges accurately.

    Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

    Qualifications

    Education: 

    Associate’s degree required.

    Experience: 

    Two (2) years radiology experience preferred.

    Certification:

    CPR certification preferred.

    Licensure:

    Licensed in the State of Florida as Certified Radiologic Technologist and certified with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
